The Wheel of Life

January is always a great time of year to take stock and review where you are in life. I like to use this “Wheel of Life” exercise, to help identify my strengths and weaknesses in terms of my overall health and happiness.

Wellness is a complex mixture of many elements.  It can include health, fitness, relationships, joy, among other things.  Take a look at the chart above and see how you think you fare with each of these major aspects of life.

  1. Place a dot on the line in each category to indicate your level of satisfaction within each area.
  2. Place a dot at the centre of the circle to indicate dissatisfaction, or on the periphery to indicate satisfaction. Most people fall somewhere in between.
  3. Connect the dots to see your Circle of Life.

Additionally, you may find it helpful to write in each segment what you are doing to positively impact this aspect of your life, and what you can do to improve on the areas that are lacking. You might need a separate page for this, or you could even write it out in a linear format.

Through this exercise you can easily identify where any imbalances may occur. It can help you to determine where to spend more time and energy to create balance.

Do you have any other tools or methods for reviewing your successes, and planning for the year ahead? Please share!
